Several people told me I should get ReplayTV instead of TiVo. It had a more advanced feature set, didn’t have monthly fees, seemed like a better deal. I was steadfast that the TiVo was the right choice, and this is why. TiVo got the brand mind-share just like Kleenex, Xerox and Post-Its. Also the lawsuit problems ReplayTV was having were also a concern. I’m sure people will continue to be able to use their ReplayTV boxes and someone may well come along and resurrect the product, but I’m glad I saw this coming.
