WOW! A-rod to the Yanks

February 14, 2004

A-rod to the Yankees for Soriano.

According to the story, Alex Rodriguez (one of the best defensive shortstops in the game) will move to third base so Derek Jeter (one of the worst defensive shortstops in the game) can remain at short. It isn’t even close when you look at the stats.

Hmm, I guess I’ve got one more year with A-rod as my shortstop unless someone in the bronx comes to their senses.

Well, perhaps Jeet will get injured, A-Rod will move over and dominate, and then Jeet will move over.

I thought A-Rod was a great fit for the Yanks three years ago, actually.

Jeter might make a decent second baseman…

I might be stating the obvious here but A-Rod hits 70 dingers next year easy. Who is going to walk A-Rod to get to Sheffield? He just didn’t really have that luxury in Texas. Add a short porch right down the line in NY and A-Rod is going to deserve the MVP this year. It is to bad for Boston, ::sniffle::

    This lineup looks ridiculous:

    1. Lofton
    2. Jeter
    3. A-rod
    4. Giambi
    5. Sheffield
    6. Posada
    7. Matsui
    8. Bernie
    9. Mike Lamb

    Salary cap anyone?

I’m sure he’ll get enough games in at SS to make him SS eligible for fantasy into 2005 at least.

    Alex:

2B is a possibility for Jeet, but the move they made makes more sense. You can afford a gloveman at second.

If they somehow get Vidro, I’ll be sick. ;)

As for a Sal-Cap … nah. Just another team in NY. That’ll do.

A-Rod won’t hit a much larger number of homers. He’s going to a park that doesn’t suit his hitting style.

I dunno – lots of 3rd basemen coming on the market at the end of the year… Glaus, Chavez and Beltre among others if I remember correctly.
