Ouch, My ERA…

Posted in: Sports

The one area I knew would be solid for my fantasy baseball team was my pitching, particularly my ERA and WHIP. This is because I was keeping 5 of the top 10 (or top 12-15 depending on who you read) starting pitchers:

  1. Pedro Martinez
  2. Curt Schilling
  3. Tim Hudson
  4. Barry Zito
  5. Johan Santana

Then Pedro goes out and has another stinker today, Santana still hasn’t gotten it going and with a little help from David Riske, my team ERA is at 4.74, my WHIP is at 1.41 and I’m sitting in next to last place. It’s still early, right?

I’m not convinced Pedro has much left in him. As a friend pointed out Ramon, at approximately the same age, through out his arm and stopped being much in the production department. If Pedro wants a contract next year worth anywhere near what he thinks he’s worth he needs to start performing, and have a solid injury free season. In his defense I heard it was chilly in Texas last night and we all know Pedro doesn’t pitch well in cold weather in the spring.

I don’t know in what type of scoring you are playing your fantasy league in, but I wouldn’t worry much if I had that pitching staff, they’ll come around.

True about Pedro and the cold. Those guys from the tropics don’t like the cold weather, I know, I’m from the tropics too (now I live in Spain) and when the cold weather comes I don’t feel my hands and other parts of my body, just horrible, lol…Nothing beats the sun and the heat ;-)

I see you have my fellow countryman Santana (no relation with the guitar player, lol) in your pitching staff, hope he does well for you this season. I’ve seen him pitch in the winter leagues (Venezuela) for a few years and this kid is just terrific.

    Greetings,

As a fantasy baseball owner… there are days where I wish I could send a professional athlete something for doing a good job. I have had Luis Gonzalez on my keeper team from the beginning (four years). This morning… I wish I could send him a little “Thank You” note.

    Fantasy Baseball Standings
I participate in two fantasy baseball :scare: keeper :/scare: leagues and it’s been a season of patience in both of them.

In the league I run, I was down in the bottom 3 spots after the first month and frankly, it didn’t look good. I thought I…
