Can anyone recommend a USB Bluetooth Adapter for use with my PC laptop (running XP Pro SP2) and Sony T608? Size matters. There are a gazillion cheap, off-brand models on ebay but I have no idea which ones (if any) actually work.
I had been looking with interest at the Kensington model because it seems nice and compact and I’ve had nothing but success with Kensington products; but the reviews all warn to stay away from this puppy.
The Linksys model gets good reviews, but I’m not so sure about that little antenna do-dad.
The laptop has a PCMCIA slot and an SD slot (though I’m not 100% sure it is SDIO), so I guess PCMCIA and SD card options are worth looking at too. I didn’t find any good candidates in my quick searches though.

I have the Linksys one and can’t complain. Only used it with an SMT5600 though.
You’ll want to check out this Microsoft KB entry though:

If you end up buying one, get the D-Link DBT-120. It works on both Macs and PCs and is very tiny yet seems to have a decent RF range.

I second Thomas’s comment on the DBT-120 — works like a charm (and is the one Apple used to sell you by default).

Why don’t you call the Dell spare parts # and order the internal one for your laptop? If I recall they’re about $40 and easy to install.

I’d love to get an internal adapter, unfortunately they do not make one (or I’d have ordered the machine with it).

To update my last comment…it appears I was mistaken. I found a message board post that said dell’s internal module was compatible with the 700m. Apparently that’s one of the few dell notebooks that doesn’t have the space for it.

If you get the DBT-120, don’t update it with Apple’s Bluetooth Firmware Utility. Once you do, the DBT-120 will not work on PC’s.
I have the DBT-120 and it’s great, size-wise, and Range-wise. Get it, but if you wanna keep using it on your PC, don’t update it with Apple’s Updater.
