Have you found a way to make AppRocket activate a currently open application instead of launching a new instance. For example, when I’ve got an instance of IE open (purely for testing you understand) it always opens a new instance of IE from AppRocket. Launchbar opens the same instance, which is a much more useful behavior (particularly for apps like IDEs or Word where you want to go back to the open instance).

It activates a current instance of Thunderbird, but creates a new Firefox window – perhaps this is a setting an app registers w/ Windows?

Jason, I think AppRocket is just using IE’s (or whatever app’s) settings for using new windows rather than reusing existing windows.

If I set Firefox to ‘open links in new window’, AppRocket will open all HTML files in a new Firefox window. If I set Firefox to reuse existing window, AppRocket will do the same.

By default, I think IE opens all links in new windows. If you can change this setting, I think AppRocket will do the same. There’s a ‘Reuse windows for launching shortcuts’ option in IE’s Advanced settings, but I still can’t get IE to open files in the current instance. Maybe IE is caching its settings somewhere… :(

Has anyone found another application that does this? I’m working onsite at a client and forced to use Windows. For some reason (my guess is security) they don’t have the .NET framework enabled so I can’t run this application. Any information would be great. Thanks!
