Accesskeys (on Buttons) Crash Safari 1.3

Posted in: Tasks Pro™, Development, Software

If you use an accesskey (control + letter keyboard shortcut) on a button element in the newly released Safari 1.3, Safari crashes1.

Just a word of warning for you Tasks Pro™ and Tasks users that are accustomed to hitting Ctrl + S to save tasks in Safari. If you haven’t already upgraded to 10.3.9 and use this functionality a lot, you might want to wait for this bug to be fixed.

Here is the test case.

Please don’t report this to me as a bug in Tasks Pro™ or Tasks, almost any time a browser crashes the bug is with the browser. A web page should not be able to cause a browser to crash.

  1. Your mileage may vary, but it crashes on the three machines we tested on. [back]
