The Mariners Stink

Posted in: Sports

They made a few good trades at the deadline (and might be able to do a couple more), but it still looks like it will be a long time until they can really contend again. It’s a real shame they were run into the ground like this after building such a great team just a few years ago. Management should be ashamed of itself for allowing this to happen.

Try being a Reds fan, Alex. Ownership decides to open up the purse strings this offseason, and who do they sign? A fly-ball pitcher to pitch in a ballpark that generally suppresses offense but is a frickin’ jet stream for home runs.

You are now enjoying the same August malaise I’ve had every year since 1999 and most years since 1990. :sigh:

You can analyze it any which way, but the bottom line is that economically the Mariners are a large market team and one of the most profitable and valuable franchises in MLB. And the product on the field has stunk for two years now with no real upside for 2006.

At least they aren’t the SF Giants.

At least the Giants are within 5 games of first place. And to show they’re serious about 2005, now they’ve traded for Randy Winn!

Hey I just moved from KC to Denver and both the Royals and Rockies are in last place. At least you’re above .500.
