    it’ll certainly be interested to follow longer term. Gizmo’s inherently more open than Skype, which may make a difference as we see more voice applications like this appear.

    in that sense, it’s open protocols vs the network effect. should be fun to watch.

    also interesting is the fact that Robertson, the man behind Gizmo, has hired DVD Jon - one of the best reverse engineers from a protocol perspective in the world. will Jon be hacking Skype? don’t know, but it certainly seems possible.
