I limped through my recent DSL outage by booting into Windows on my MacBook and tethering through my BlackBerry (wouldn’t it be nice to be able to tether in Mac OS X?), but I sorely missed the EV-DO connection I had with Sprint.

I wish Sprint or Verizon would offer an EV-DO plan that only charged you each month if you used it. I generally go in spurts where I need to use a mobile connection like this¹, and then I’ll go several months without needing it again.

As far as I can tell, nothing like this is available – anyone have any inside info?
