Sprint BlackBerry 8703e Ordered

Posted in: Mobile

One thing I learned in my week in the Bay Area, T-Mobile’s coverage is actually better in the Denver Metro than it is in some areas. I’ve put in an order for an 8703e from Sprint. Sprint’s pricing1 was enough better than Verizon’s to tip me in their direction.

Hopefully, I’ll get better coverage and faster data to make it worth switching. The solution Daniel is working on for tethering should work with the 8703e as well. :fingerscrossed:

  1. I actually dropped the number of minutes based on my recent usage, reducing the monthly cost difference to $25/month. [back]

I just got the 8703e and it rocks! I think you’ll be very pleased. The keyboard is a bit cramped (I’m used to a 6750), but still very usable.

I’ve already got the 8700g, so I know the keyboard is OK for me. I was coming from a Treo, so it’s a big improvement in that direction.

[…] My BlackBerry 8703e came in today. I spent much of the afternoon and evening mucking around with it, trying to get it to work as a modem. Everything started rather encouragingly - the Sprint booklet includes a chapter on using the phone as a modem. Unfortunately, the steps did not work for me - I kept getting a #692 error. […]
