Comment Spam Overload

Yes, comment spam is the reason the site keeps going away from time to time. It’s basically DDOS by comment spam. We’re working to put up some measures to stop it.

    Doesn’t Akismet take care of most of it? I still get maybe 10 spam comments a day, but it is definitely manageable.

    By the time that this level of spam attack reached Apache, you’re already dead. If it reached all the way through WP to Akismet, you’d be doubly dead.

    Alex, the “Type notspam” field you have added to your comments form… is that some kind of MOD that’s available?
