I had never counted calories before, as I never had trouble losing the extra pounds that crept on, but when I quit smoking, it was a different story. I finally realized I had traded one oral habit for another, and had snacked myself out of my entire wardrobe. The only thing that worked to get things back was for me to become aware if what I was putting in my mouth, and count the calories. I lost 9 pounds in two months doing that. Not to set you off your progress, but there is a Jack in the Box somewhere out by Golden. Being a native Southern Californian, it stuck out quite a bit since I haven't seen one in a while.
