Thnx, worked for me, too, for about 2 months before I had to do it again. For as much as my Logitech mouse cost I would really like a more high-tech (read, permanent) solution.

So if you're still not convinced -- just slam it. You slam it down like you would if you picked it up off your desk. Don't slam the button-side down, slam the bottom side that regularly sits on your desk.

Mouse is currently charging perfectly!

I just came across this problem after purchasing the MX new on eBay about 2 years ago (which was rare since they were already discontinued at that point). Got the flashing red light on the charger today and needless to say I was so disappointed as this is such a great mouse. Saw the slamming solution here and tried it on the mousepad. No go. Gave it another slam on the hard desk this time and presto! It charges again! What in the world? :D

If you've scrolled down this far as I have because I had to leave a comment as well just do it. I just banged it on my hand. I banged the back first thinking it was the bottom, duh. Hit the part that sits on your desk and it should work. Can't believe how common this problem is. Thanks for the solution and convincing me this would work. Just wrote my next newsletter about this. LOL How funny.

2+ years I've had my MX Rev. Many times I've had to reseat the mouse on the recharger dock, thinking I had to set it just right to get the recharger going. Today after 10 mins of reseating, the red flash of death persisted. I feared the worst was upon me...

With only the keyboard at my disposal I googled, logitech red blinking.

Tabed my way to this site

Read the first 10 comments and thought, "get the fukc out of here...."

Continued to read the following 20 comments and thought, ".....wat!?"

Took mouse off dock and slammed it on my desk once and redocked it... *1234green*

MOTHER OF GOD... All hail Chris and his wisdom.

Wow, a lot of people having this issue. The fault is that the internal battery is not quite seated properly. Instead of soldering it in (which would be stupid) Logitech used a type of cradle that the battery seats into. Personally I would recommend opening the mouse and reseating the battery instead of smashing it. Of course, as a tech I'm used to people doing stupid things to their electronics. Also, for those people not quite ready for prime time, you can program the button behind the scroll wheel to be the middle mouse button. Also, if you set it up correctly, the scroll wheel will free-spin if you move it very quickly and go back to click movement when it stops moving. This blows away their newer mice that require you to press a button to get the wheel to toggle between the two modes.
The MX Revolution also has the cradle while their newer mice use a very poor USB cable to charge. You actually only get about 3 hours solid use out of the newer Logitech mice before you have to plug it in. It takes at least as long to charge, so you're only getting a wireless mouse 50% of the time you're using it. The MX Revolution will last several days under heavy use, and if you let it recharge at night you will never have any down time. Gaming is also excellent with this mouse. I have never experienced any lag at all with it and the DPI seem just right.

I was looking online to replace my optical mouse when I came across this blog. Count me as a successful slammer jammer too. Maybe Logitech should incorporate this instruction into their user manual.
