ShareThis Classic 1.5.2

Posted in: News, WordPress

We’ve released a new version of ShareThis Classic. This release has two changes:

  1. Better examples and instructions for localization1 and customization of Social Web services.
  2. The ability to turn off all sharethis.com tracking information if you want to. Note you may need to deactivate and reactivate the plugin to get the option to appear on the Options page.

I’d recommend the widget version (2.x) for most people since it provides tracking and will support a variety of new features that are in the works, however if you need the control of hosting it locally for whatever reason, ShareThis Classic is your huckleberry.

You can download the Classic version from my ShareThis page.

  1. Internationalization is not yet supported in the 2.x versions. [back]

    Thanks Alex!

While the version 2 has all the nifty features for tracking etc, I also prefer the Classic Version as it provides us with a flexibility to have all the code local.

On shared host - anytime I can load a script locally as opposed to pulling it from remote server - I’m game. It has proven most beneficial to me and I’m sure a few people will share my sentiment.

    Cheers,
    Alex (aka TheSpot-Er)

I recently tried to look into sharethis.com, but found that it was blocked by my workplace as “Online Storage”. That didn’t seem quite right to me, so you may want to take it up with the BlueCoat service.

Not sure if you’re into it or not, but I whipped up a Share This FeedFlare for FeedBurner.

Most people read my blog via my feed, so I figured that’s where I needed to put the link.
It’d be way cool if ShareThis.com could do this.
Anyway, thanks for what you do. You’re a way cool guy.
