Here’s a nice little one-trick pony WordPress plugin: Drafts Dropdown. It literally just adds quick access to your drafts via a dropdown area.
Click…
and…
There you have it. A small convenience to be sure, but a convenience nonetheless.
Of note to other plugin developers, the code I created to place the tab and drawer in the WordPress admin is well abstracted in this plugin. It’s all done with hooks, etc. so you can take it and use it in your own plugin quite easily. I also submitted the code to core, so hopefully this sort of feature will be easier in a future release of WordPress.
The download and more information are available on my WordPress Plugins page.

That looks pretty cool, and I have been wondering how those menus are created so I am definitely checking it out.
May not use it… 30 loooong title posts in draft… they will get written too!

What I did on my browsers (Safari/Firefox) was I created a folder on my toolbar called Posts and inside of there I have bookmarked Add New Posts, Drafts, Published, Scheduled, Dashboard along with the main URL for my site and a few others like the Plugins page.
Now when I want to create a new post, go to drafts or directly to the plugins page I can go directly without fishing around on the Dashboard. You don’t even have to wait for the Dashboard to load to go directly to the section you want.
Quick, low impact on the site and super easy to implement.

Bookmarks are fine, but you still have to wait for the page to load to click on the draft. This plugin gives you instant access to a draft when you are already in the admin interface.
If it’s useful, great. If you don’t need it, don’t install it.

You’re absolutely right Alex, my old eyes didn’t see the list of draft titles. This is a great way to zip directly to a draft post out of multiple draft posts when in the Dashboard.
Better living through speed and ease of use.
