NFL Playoff Attrition, Round 2

Last year I made some SWAGs about which NFL teams that made the playoffs in 2010 would miss in the 2011 season.

Recapping those predictions here.

  • Atlanta
  • Baltimore
  • Chicago
  • Green Bay
  • Indianapolis
  • Kansas City
  • New England
  • New Orleans
  • NY Jets
  • Philadelphia
  • Pittsburgh
  • Seattle

italic = predicted to miss the playoffs
bold = did miss the playoffs

4/5 correct – not too shabby. I should have gone with my hunch to exclude Philly instead of picking between the Ravens and Steelers. Also, the general statement that half the teams turn over year to year held true.

We’re a week into the season so it’s not quite as blind/pure as last year’s predictions, but let’s make some guesses for 2012. I forced myself to pick 6 this year instead of the 5 I did last year.

  • Atlanta
  • Baltimore
  • Cincinatti
  • Denver
  • Detroit
  • Green Bay
  • Houston
  • New England
  • New Orleans
  • New York
  • Pittsburgh
  • San Francisco

italic = predicted to miss the playoffs

If I didn’t live in Denver and/or hadn’t seen Peyton Manning in week 1, I probably would have picked Denver to miss the playoffs. As it is, I chose the defending Super Bowl champion Giants and Atlanta – both look like good teams. I look forward to seeing which teams make me look foolish next year. 🙂
