Indian Tree (Arvada, CO)

Posted in: Courses (CO)

I played Indian Tree for the first time today. I’d driven past it a number of times, and my impressions (looks hilly) were pretty accurate. :) It was also the first time in a while that I’d walked and carried my bag instead of riding or using my push cart.

The course was in good shape for being a muni and in the middle of winter here. We played from the tips and it was long. You can hit your driver on most of the holes, and there was only one par 3 that was under 200 yards.

I started off well, birdie-ing the first hole and playing even par through 6 - then the wheels came off. The greens were so hard and the grass so dead that chip shots didn’t hold well at all.

The range is on a bit of a tilt, which isn’t great - but I guess it’s better than nothing.

Twilight rate for 18, walking, plus a small bucket of balls: $24.

I’m looking forward playing the course again when it’s “greened up” a bit this summer.

UPDATE: I thought it played long in the winter when it was hard and fast - in the summer in lush conditions it is even longer. The 642 yard par 5 12th is a real beast.
