I’ve got a Sonartec 21 degree hybrid (basically a 3-iron). I can make a putting stroke with the hybrid and the ball jumps over/through the fringe then rolls out like a putt. It’s a lower risk shot than chipping from a tight lie around the greens. Try it sometime.

So I’m still a little green to golf (really only started playing seriously in May). I’m familiar with using a half-swing with a wood to shoot it low to get out from under trees, but I’ve never heard of chipping with a hybrid.

Can you explain the reasoning and which club/loft you’re using?
