Golden Eagle is a little further north past Deacon’s Lodge. The course was cut beautifully through the trees and valleys, with several holes requiring forced carries over native areas. The tee boxes, fairways, sand traps and greens were all in great shape and the greens were reasonable-paced and rolled true.

I was paired with a couple that were members, so I had a guide to help with aim points on the dogleg holes (some of which would have been a little tricky as a first-timer). The pace of play was excellent, and the driving range was quite suitable for a warm-up. The staff was friendly and helpful – all in all, an excellent experience.

The course layout is a bit unique – three par 5s on the front nine, with two back-to-back to start. The back nine has three par 3s, and has the two par 5s back-to-back. It didn’t feel gimmicky though – the round flowed nicely.

Here is my scorecard.
