The new 17" PowerBooks are hereby deemed a significant enough upgrade for me to take the long awaited plunge. After Jason’s experience with hard drive speed in his PowerBook, I’ll definitely be getting the faster hard drive option, but the rest will be pretty vanilla. What happened to the 60GB 7200rpm drive option?
I suppose I’ll need one of those cool T2 messenger bags to haul it around in too. 😎
My 15" has been a trooper trouper (thanks Eric), but it’s time for a little upgrade. Repeat the mantra: it’s a business expense, it’s a business expense, it’s a business expense… 😉
I’m jumping in for the 1.5 Ghz 15 inch model. The good news: it’s a fair chunk cheaper than the similar but lower spec model available yesterday. Now we just have to wait for delivery. here in New Zealand that can be months …
Selling your old one? 😀
Haven’t decided yet. Might sell it, might keep it and retire the old iBook.
all i can say is you are making the right decision. i’ve been on a 17″ Al for about a year now, after about 2 years on a 15″ Ti, and i love it; the additional screen real estate makes all the difference, and to those who say it’s too wide, i can only respond with: when flying in coach you still can’t use a 15″ so you might as well go for it; come on, we all know that 45 degree tilt position 😉
as for the bag option, i would highly recommend spire ( http://spireusa.com ). i went the backpack route with the volt xl but it looks like they now have messenger bags; the removable boot is a godsend…
cheers and congrats
So what’re you gonna call your new baby? I named my 15″ Freya 🙂
Probably something exciting like ’17-AiBook’ (the current machine is ’15-TiBook’). 🙂
17" PowerBook Order Placed
I finally put the order in for the new PowerBook. The Apple Store says it will be 3-5 days to ship plus 2-3 days shipping. 😀
