The second beta of Twitter Tools is now available for download. This fixes pretty much all known issues in the first beta and includes digest posting. It’s still beta because there are a couple of Twitter API changes coming (hopefully soon) that will allow a few things to work in a much easier fashion. I’m delaying the full release until the new API is available.
Two notable items that will be changing when the new API features are released:
- Adding support for downloading tweets even if you aren’t publishing them publicly.
- No more needing your Twitter ID (username and password will be enough).
Also note, the digest posting is not tested as well as the other features because it was only recently completed. If you run into issues with it, make sure you let me know.
The download and more information are available on my WordPress Plugins page.
If you have any trouble with this, please open a thread in the WP Support Forums and send me the link. I’ve subscribed to the twitter-tools tag feed, so tagging the feed with ‘twitter-tools’ will make sure I see it.

using this on my site and it works flawlessly, absolutely perfect. if anybody is looking to integrate twitter into their blog they should look no further than this excellent plugin. 🙂
Hi,
i dont have any trouble with the twitter-tools but a kind of feature request.
[edit: as noted above, please post support issues in the forums – ak]
Add support for WordPress 2.0
Thanks,
Alex
Upgrade to 2.1. 🙂
Well Alex, i have some blogs with 2.1 and others with 2.0 :p
Well Alex… Thanks..
thank you 😉
@(a different) Alex – so basically you’re telling Alex King that your time is more valuable than his… I bet he disagrees.
Outstanding! Works perfectly for me. I can even send tweets from my site via my Blackberry when the IM bot is down.
Top notch software!
I’m pushing it on all the people I know who use WordPress.
If you change line 567 to
the plugin will work in K2 and other themes that use the sidebar modules plugin. It’s what I had to do with GASearch and others because the sidebar modules admin page will just blank out if you activate this plugin.
I’ll open a support thread in the WP forums for a problem I’m having with the twitts not showing.
All – make sure to get latest from SVN if you run into issues. This is beta code and lots of things are changing, being fixed quite rapidly (both in my code and on Twitter).
