I went to my first San Jose Giants game last night. The San Jose Giants are a single-A minor league affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. The stadium was small. The field was in relatively poor shape for professional baseball. There are billboards all along the outfield wall. The crowd was half paying attention and half talking amongst themselves. The game went 12 innings. We had fun. I like minor league baseball. 🙂
Here are some photos, added with my soon to be released b2photos hack.
You forgot about the “beer batter”… clearly the best part of any SJ Giants game!
For those of you who don’t know about the “beer batter”, it is the player on the team with the most strikeouts this season. Whenever he comes up to bat and strikes out, beers are only 25 cents for the next 5 minutes (or something like that). It makes the whole experience worth it!
The beer batter never struck out, the selfish bastard! 😉
The beer batter is a player on the visiting team roster. Usually a good hitter. If he strikes out, beers are half price for the rest of that 1/2 inning. Since beers are regularly 4 bucks, this is a great deal. Also the SJ Giants BBQ out in left field is awesome!!
Go Giants!
