Inspired by recently finding the excellent Path Finder, I’ve posted a list of my must-have software packages.
What’s on your list?
Inspired by recently finding the excellent Path Finder, I’ve posted a list of my must-have software packages.
What’s on your list?
1) Tasks (but of course!)
2) Gentoo Linux
3) Apache [with mod_php]
4) FluxBox
5) XMMS
6) GKrellm2
7) wmdrawer [app launcher]
8) Googlizer [which i have also tweaked to open ANY url in the X clipboard]
9) Open Office
10) Evolution
Since you were probably expecting WIndoze-type sw, this is what I use when forced to use Windoze (and it’s all *free*ware):
MobyDock [freeware app launcher that has same mouseover effect as Mac OSX]
Blackbox for Windoze (bb4win) [replaces Explorer.exe as your ‘window manager’]
JSPager [creates multiple virtual desktops] (unfortunately its web page is MIA but I have the .zip file if anyone wants it)
Shell WM [lets you ‘skin’ all your windows]
Atomic TimeSync [makes it easy to use NTP to keep your clock correct]
WinPatrol [keeps a constant eye on your system: watches for viruses, adware, spyware, etc]
SSHD (using OpenSSH and Cygwin)
PuTTY [telnet/ssh client]
TightVNC [for remote desktop control]
and Gaim! how could i forget Gaim! (i use it on Linux and Windoze)
Great links, thanks!
