Use Tasks got a brief mention in the Wall Street Journal today.
I gave a phone interview to the reporter earlier this week in which we discussed choosing between creating interfaces that have initial ease of use vs. the benefits of speed and power for daily users. Too bad that didn’t get in there – maybe it laid some groundwork for the future.
This was also a situation where currently unreleased features would have made a big difference in how the app was reviewed, but I guess that will almost always be the case. 🙂
Thanks to Matt sending me the link.

What was the outcome of the discussion about ease vs. speed? (No, not talking about drugs here ;)). What’s your take on the issue? I personally think that if the speedy power interface is constructed in a logical manner it can still be easy to use even for the novice. Unless one offers an interface that can grow with the user’s need I think one shouldn’t target the total beginner too much. Because he will eventually move on, won’t he?
It’s too bad that the mention is so short and wasn’t a little more positive. But still, I’m sure it will drive more than a few new hits 🙂
I’m with Dougal. Holy crap, man, that’s awesome. 😀
