There is an IBM commercial on TV right now that shows a series of people all singing along to:
I’m not like everybody else…1
But… they’re all singing the same thing together – each one, like everybody else.
Is the irony here intentional and I’m missing a larger joke?

Nice observation. I haven’t seen the commercial, but I tend to agree with Jeremy. If the commercial is making you think, you’re probably not part of their intended audience.

When I watched it, I was struck by the fact that none of those people could manage to lip sync, they were all WAY off. Each one was hearing a different song, evidently.
