I used Crazy Egg to create before (v1) and after (v2) heatmaps of alexking.org. Unfortunately I didn’t take screenshots of the v1 heatmap and it turns out that the heatmap display uses the current live site as the background – not a saved screenshot along with the old test. This seriously hampers the usefulness of the tool in my opinion since it isn’t easy to compare new and old heatmap versions of pages once you change the design.
Anyways, here is the heatmap for the new site after a 2 day test:
I can tell you that the old site didn’t have the same concentrated clicks that the new site does – the simplification of the navigation and callouts on the home page seem to be doing just what I wanted.
Hi, Alex, we are improving and adding servers to our shot server system, this is why the archived view did not include a snapshot.
Thanks for the followup on how you have used Crazy Egg to help redesign your website.
If you have any more feedback, we’d love to hear it.
Thanks!
This tool is awesome, you can really get a good feel for how to rearrange and correct your site based on how people use it. Simply awesome!
