I was surprised that today’s keynote didn’t include much of anything about Leopard or revisions to the Mac line. Are more announcements expected before the end of the Expo?
iPhone – I’ll be curious to check it out, but probably won’t switch to Cingular for it.
AppleTV – I’m much more likely to jump onboard here, mainly for TV shows.
The iPhone looks interesting, but the lock-in to Cingular is kind of a disappointment (though I know that they needed carrier buy-in for some of the features). The other disappointing parts are the price ($5-600… ouch!) and the lack of UTMS.
There’s definitely some innovative UI stuff there, but I can see the price handicapping it on the consumer front and the lack of enterprise integration (Exchange, BES, etc.) handicapping it in the business sector.
The AppleTV is definitely slick though. I’ll be interested to see the first reviews of it.
Well, I’m a Cingular customer [I’m in their home region], so I’m awful gleeful. I hate it for non-Cingular users, but … not that much! I’m already viewing my Treo 650 with disdain. 😉
I think that there’ll be special events in the coming month or so to talk the rest of it, and I expect a big bump in hardware and Leopard come WWDC. I like Gruber’s idea that the UI will be changed to match a hardware industrial design change, too.
I really hope they rev the hardware, I want to replace my oft-broken Quad with a MacPro pick up a current 30″ on the cheap. 🙂
I expect a non-cheese grater dual-Core Quad box by 3Q2007.
At the beginning of the keynote he (Jobs) mentioned that there would be a lot of new things coming to the Mac but that today was not about that. I guess we can take that as meaning that there could be more “stuff” coming before the end of the expo.
I probably will not buy an iPhone, but I do like the fact that it brings to light a problem that I’ve always hated, that voicemail in its current form sucks.
I don’t know about other announcements, but in the Apple booth today, I noticed that the iWork and iLife demo stations all had signage with the “’06”. So unless Apple is planning on swapping out signage modules, I doubt if those two suites will get rev’ed during the show.
