Alex: The only reason that I’d call it a 1.0 is that they were trying to make sure that file transfer, et al, would work with iChat. I’ve had to pop over into iChat several times to trade files with iChat users, and … it’s frustrating. [I would use iChat full-time if it supported multiple services and multiple accounts per user … features that I’ve heard are promised for Leopard, but … well, I need ’em now. :)]
So, yeah … it’s now a mature, fully-usable product.

I’d be a bit surprised if iChat supported multiple protocols – I always thought AIM only way the price they paid for having AIM compatibility for .Mac accounts. I’d probably keep using Adium because I like the Adium chat windows a lot better than the iChat windows.
Thanks for pointing this out. I decided to try Adium out and, unless I decide I hate it, I’ll use it instead of iChat
