  1. Strongspace and Bingodisk: 5 Days Down →

I hope they are successful in getting everything rebuilt, however I’m going to start backing everything1 up to S3 as well as Strongspace. If I had a failure in my primary storage during this downtime I’d be looking at losing 5 days of work. I should know better.

    1. I was already backing up some things to both. [back]
  2. Daring Fireball: The MacBook Air →

Good summary – I hope that some future revisions will support some big ol’ dongle/dock solution for driving a 30″ display. I use my MacBook Pro as my primary machine at the office, so I can’t switch – yet.

You’ll have a hard time convincing me this isn’t just the tip of the iceberg. The MacBook and MacBook Pro lines are due for an overhaul still – I expect it to come sooner rather than later.

  3. Refresh Denver on Wednesday

Brian and I will be on a panel for Refresh Denver on Wednesday. Come on out, audience participation and heckling make these things a heckuva lot more fun. 😉 UPDATE: Unfortunately Brian won’t be able to make it, but I look forward to meeting Heather and SuzAnn from Launchpad.

  4. MacWorld 08 Predictions

This is as much hoping as it is predicting, but: New and improved laptops – I think they can make them smaller and lighter; I’m not as excited about a multi-touch interface, but I’ve got an open mind about it. A pro sub-notebook would definitely be nice as well. We’ve been living with the current…

  5. Around the web

Changes Beta – hecuvalot cheaper than Araxis Merge, but I’d choose BBEdit’s built-in diff tool over this one. Hughes or Ellsbury? Johan Santana trade negotiations… – nice coverage from Aaron. GrandCentral: GC Mobile Inbox – Access your messages selectively, even old ones – I find it hard to remember how I worked without GrandCentral. ‘i’…

  6. SVN Scripts and Tools

At Crowd Favorite we use Subversion for source control and document distribution and management. Last week, we were reminded just how much we rely on it. We made the move from an outdated server to a more properly equipped one, and also used a more suitable domain and set up SSL and all the stuff…

  7. A Startup Weekend Success Story

When I attended the inaugural Startup Weekend in Boulder, I did so with a stated purpose of going to meet people and network. I’ve built startups in the past, and had no delusions about what could and could not be created in the span of a weekend. To that end, I’d like to report back…

  8. Around the web

Freelance Freedom #33 – heh. Year in Twitter – pretty slick. SimplePie Almost Dies – very glad it’s continuing. Adium 1.2! – installing now. I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For – I’m also hoping the new Mac laptops are compelling. We’ll probably get several of them. SlingPlayer Mobile Client Coming To The BlackBerry…

  9. Web Site Transition, Step 2

When King Design became Crowd Favorite last year, I employed a couple of techniques to try to make the web site transition as painless as possible. Now if you visit kingdesign.net the Crowd Favorite site design is shown; with a small banner noting the rename being shown at the top of the page on the…
