  3. Verizon = Good Choice

After my several month dalliance with Sprint, T-Mobile and finally ditching AT&T for Verizon on my BlackBerry (my primary device), I am happy to report that I chose wisely. I have not (yet) had the dreaded “Call Failed (beep, beep, beep)”, or a single dropped call since making the switch.1 Also, the network performance for…

  4. So Yeah, Backups…

The following is a cautionary tale – please learn from it. Last Friday was a fun day. In late morning a router upstream from our server went out, when it was restored all of our sites came back online except the server we used for the Crowd Favorite web site and email relay. The hard…

  6. Address Book via DropBox Quirk

So far my Address Book sync via Dropbox solution is working well. The only issue I’ve seen so far is having to restart Mail.app to get names and addresses properly paired up from time to time. If you see a weird name/email address combination in Mail.app, a quit and restart of Mail.app should fix it.

  7. Contact Sync

I wrote the following draft blog post in December 2008: I’m closer than ever to never having to plug in my BlackBerry to a computer to sync it. The exception is still contacts, which I can get away with syncing once a week or so. My calendars are synced with Google Calendar. This is handled…

  9. WordPress Security/Upgrade Help

The interwebs are abuzz with concerns about WordPress security this weekend. If you use WordPress, you should always make sure you are running to the latest version. Because of these concerns, the WordPress HelpCenter is open for special weekend hours (9am-5pm Central), and will be as responsive as possible to voice mail and email (help@wphelpcenter.com)…

  10. The Network Wins

After my final test run last weekend I decided to keep my BlackBerry Bold with AT&T. That lasted until Tuesday morning when I was on a conference call and the call dropped. Again. I was all set to port my number to Sprint. Their network isn’t quite as good as Verizon’s, but it generally works…

  11. Snow Leopard

I upgraded my work machine to Snow Leopard. I had to jump through some minor hoops to get my dev environment back up and running again, and I’m also finding myself missing two utilities that haven’t been updated yet: iStat Menus and MailTemplate. I was thrilled that updates for MsgFiler, SuperDuper, Pukka and PathFinder were…
