Sending .zip files around via email should be easy – this has been as basic as it gets and has been for years.
It seems that many Exchange administrators decide to block emails with .zip file attachments. This it the digital equivalent of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
If your email program or OS is so fragile that you feel you need to wholesale block .zip attachments, you should really fix the underlying problem.
This seems to be a pretty typical issue with defense contractors. And the employees always get around it with public dropbox websites, or their personal email accounts, which really, just adds more exposure to the “private” conversation.
I’ve tried to tell that to a few microsoft/citrix guys a while back. They looked at me like I was from another planet. They also do that whole things where you have to change your login password every 60 days as their only method of removing old users. I asked them So a disgruntled employee could theoretically still log in to the network for 59 days after they’re fired?” They got mad and said I was too negative and I had a bad attitude.
