Most people have a goal of expanding their user base by launching apps, but I agree with Devin that this doesn’t necessarily seem to be the case here. I’ve never listened to a show live – I time-shift everything. Clearly I’m not the audience for this app.
I think one big thing here is the positioning of the app. Maybe if this was titled “5by5 Pro” (clearly targeted at power users) it might make more sense.
I’m on the verge of removing text messaging from my phone plan – I think I’m down to 3-6/month that aren’t iMessages. I can route alerts and such to my Google Voice number.
