@alexkingorg Jing?
@alexkingorg QuickTime
@JJJ QuickTime gives me the same blank green screen.
@alexkingorg It works great if you can get it going. Never experienced a green screen myself.
@alexkingorg Screenflow is awesome, but check for Retina support.
definitely agree with screenflow. love that app.
@markjaquith @alexkingorg screenflow works fine for me in Retina — I’m even using an old version (2.0).
@alexkingorg Camtasia for Mac supports Mac Retina display… not sure if it falls in your “simple” category 🙂
@bobWP Thanks for the recommendation! @alexkingorg, would you like to try a free trial? We’re here if you have ?s http://t.co/ifZlCWlm5q
@alexkingorg Check this thread https://t.co/kd3nKPm96e I seem to have fixed it by repairing permissions.
Thanks all, some good tips here. Screenflow looks nice, but I’m not ready to shell out $99 for an app I use a couple times a year. I will check out the possible permissions issue too (though I was unable to install the Pro codecs linked in that thread).
With current settings:
– Screeny = fail (green screen)
– Quicktime = fail (green screen)
– Voila = fail (green screen)
– Screenflow = success
I’ll bet you’ll use it more than 2 times per year if you buy it. Screenflow is so easy to use I just screencast pretty much any bug report now. Soooo much easier than trying to describe every action and then have the developer doubt that you actually did reproduce it. 🙂
I’ve been happy with Screeny until this – I’m thinking there is a system-level glitch here as Quicktime is exhibiting the same behavior. But if I can’t get it fixed…
@alexkingorg love to hear what you find in re to screen recording apps.
@alexkingorg if you install gfxCardStatus, switch to Integrated – that works for me, though Integrated doesn’t support external displays
@alexkingorg This must be a recent OSX bug because I’ve used Screeny and iShowU HD for a while without issue until I checked today.
@alexkingorg After a bit of troubleshooting a simple restart (with ext. display disconnected) fixed the recordings for me.
@alexkingorg …after testing without an ext. display with success I plugged in the ATD and another successful recording was made…
@dancameron I connect to 2 Dell 30”s, but was doing this disconnected. I guess I’ll try the reboot when convenient.
I use ScreenFlow.
@alexkingorg I just use QuickTime, it’s the only useful thing it does!
[…] was certainly not alone in my problem with Screeny recording nothing but a green screen. Interestingly I got the same results from Quicktime, which made me think it was a system issue […]
