I love the idea, but ultimately I’m too lazy. I haven’t even ripped all my CDs yet and don’t own many DVDs. iTunes Match does all my music via Apple TV and any movies we own stream from Apple or Amazon.

Necessity provided all the incentive I needed here. Between the terrible bandwidth we got on the island – making Netflix et al choppy at best – and the fact that some of our DVDs will likely never make it up there, and it got pretty easy. Having a workstation that will convert them in fifteen minutes or so helps as well.
It’s also worth mentioning that DVDs are intrinsically simpler, metadata-wise, than CDs. No tracks to worry about, etc. All you need is title and release date and Plex does all the rest.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of sogflix.
