  1. Back From Vacation

I’m back from my weekend jaunt to (mostly) sunny Arizona. We skipped last year due to business, but this is the 4th time in 5 years taking this trip. I quite enjoy this vacation – a few rounds of golf and a few spring training baseball games do wonders for relaxation. 🙂 A few random…

  2. SportsOasis Re-opening in Broomfield

Great news for volleyball players in the Denver/Boulder area, the SportsOasis is re-opening1 in Broomfield in a new location (close to the old location actually) with a target date of April 14th. I’ve been playing 1-3 times a week at the SportsOasis for the last year and a half or so, and I’m quite glad…

    Wow, check out these stats on Sammy Sosa from the Hardball Times: HOMERUNS HR RCAA 1 Hank Aaron 755 1032 2 Babe Ruth 714 1795 3 Barry Bonds 708 1502 4 Willie Mays 660 1008 5 Sammy Sosa 588 338 6 Frank Robinson 586 852 7 Mark McGwire 583 665 8 Harmon Killebrew 573 516…

  4. Golf!

I managed to get out for 9 holes this afternoon… it felt great to get away from the keyboard for a few hours. I’m not sure when it will be, but I’m looking forward to getting back to not working for the entire weekend. 🙂

  5. Go Seahawks

I’ll be rooting for my hometown Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. I’ve never been a huge ‘hawks fan, but in the finest Seattle sports tradition, I’ve jumped on the bandwagon now that they are doing well. 🙂 There was potential for a conflict if both the Broncos and Seahawks had made it to the Super Bowl.…

  6. Breckenridge

Granted there was a bunch of snow this week, but the snow at Breckenridge today was a lot better than what we had at Keystone last week. I escaped with many fewer bumps and bruises. 🙂 I’ve got to remember to get my board waxed before my next trip – I keep getting stuck while…

  7. Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota Vikings football practice was delayed nearly two hours yesterday after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field. Head coach, Mike Tice, immediately suspended practice while police and federal agents were called to investigate. After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to the…

  8. World Series

I don’t have strong feelings either way towards the teams in this year’s World Series. I guess I’m leaning a little towards Roger Clemens and the Astros, but if I had to bet I’d probably put my money on the White Sox. Predictions? They count more if you get them in before the game starts.…

  9. MVP?

All weekend and again tonight I had to endure the idiotic commentary of baseball announcers discussing the AL MVP race. Generally, it’s a two horse race between David “Big Papi” Ortiz and Alex “No Soul” Rodriguez. Good arguments can be made for each player, but the announcers sure aren’t making them. Last weekend, they were…

  10. Yankees v. Red Sox

Should be one heck of a series this weekend. That lucky bastard My friend Steve is going to the pivotal Saturday game – I bet that will be quite an experience (especially if the Sox win)! I’ll have to settle for some HD goodness from the YES network – hope I can stand it with…

  11. The Mariners Stink

They made a few good trades at the deadline (and might be able to do a couple more), but it still looks like it will be a long time until they can really contend again. It’s a real shame they were run into the ground like this after building such a great team just a…

  12. Volleyball

We won our co-ed hardcourt volleyball league tonight. We won 7 straight games from pool play through the finals – nice job all. It’s a little frustrating going between sand and hardcourt volleyball because the timing is so different, but after playing sand you feel like you can fly on the hardcourt.

  13. Rockies 3, Marlins 9

I went to the Rockies-Marlins game tonight. The young Rockies hung in there pretty well, but couldn’t avoid giving up a big inning late in the game. First time I think I’ve ever seen back-to-back triples. Coors Field is a really nice place to watch a game – I highly recommend it if you’re passing…
