It’s succeeding because Glenn, the authors, the illustrators, the photographers, and I pour a lot of time and money into the content, relentlessly publishing roughly two original illustrations, four photos, and 10,000 polished words every two weeks.
Marco’s right that a publication will succeed or fail based on it’s content. I unsubscribed from The Magazine last month because of the content.
I’m in the same boat… subscribed for a couple months, then canceled.
I’d be curious what % of The Magazine’s subscribers weren’t already following Marco in some form.
I’m about to cancel too. Initially I enjoyed the content when he launched it. But I haven’t read any of the most recent issues because none of the articles really grabbed me as interesting. I guess Marco wanted to move in different direction than just doing tech-related writing for the geek crowd.
