Google Ads Position

Posted in: alexking.org

It has been just over a month since I put Google AdSense ads on the bottom of my site. For the next month, I’ve moved the ads from the bottom of the page to the right side to see if people click them more often in that position. We’ll see how it goes.

Google seems to think my blog is very baseball related right now. :)

I’ve seen 2 stories recently where Google thought a site was fraudelently generating AdSense clicks using scripts. They refused to pay the $100 or so of revenue the site had generated and shut down the account. In reality both sites involved in this bs had very supportive users who really were clicking on the links and actually going to the sites.

I’m getting about a 0.5% click-through rate, I doubt that will be a problem for me.

Do they pay you by purchase or by click-through? If it’s by the click-through consider them clicked every time I stop by.

Yeah, I think it is by the click-through.

I appreciate the support, but please don’t click them to click them (at least don’t pound on them ;) ), only click them if you’re really interested.

If I get a lot of bogus clicks, they can cancel my account (as Nick pointed out above).

The site Nick was talking about is here. This is good enough for me - please no clicks just to click. :)

0.5% clickthrough rate is already very good. I heard the industry average is only 0.4%.
