I’m a big fan of RSS Aggregators, but I’m having the same problem with them that I had with POP mail: if I’m using more than one machine, they can’t share data.
Someone needs to build a system that lets you store your OPML file and the “read status” of each feed/post online. This would also require buy-in from the major aggregators to support this service.
Either that, or a really good web-based aggregator with a nice rich interface needs to show up soon. I’ve been tempted to try to build one on several occasions but managed to stop myself.
If someone out there is planning to build one, I’d be willing to help out on the interface.
try out bloglines, for example medical blogs and ones around palo alto:

how about feed on feed?
http://minutillo.com[...]feedonfeeds/
Thanks for the links guys, but I’m not interested in using a web based aggregator unless it has a really rich interface on par with the capablities I have in NetNewsWire and other “fat client” aggregators.
It would be nice to see a plugin of an existing lobg system, that implements the rss post.
The idea is like this:
You have a blog, eventually empty: with an interface you insert rss links whose posts you’d like. Every 15 minutes the blog will update the feeds and inserts the posts from the xml feeds of the links you’ve inserted. If you want, you can put a middle passage with the approvation of the pubblication of the posts coming from outside.
So you can do, with such a thing:
- blog aggregators for personal use
- blog hierarchies (a campus blog with all the generic posts caming from courses blogs, for example) with n level structure
- a mix of theese two things
I’ve requested this here:
http://wordpress.org/support/4/1063
and I would like to partecipate or pay someone that would implement a such thing.
Please reply to worpress post if you think it’s useful.
We’ve discussed integrating an aggregator into WordPress, I imagine we will do that at some point.
You might try using Drupal.
How much work does it need? How much can costs the operation? Is there anyone that would like to do that under payment?
Well, we’ve talked about integrating Feeds on Feeds. It needs some cleanup but it has the basic functionality we need and it’s GPL like WordPress.
I could probably work on it in a few weeks. If you need it right away, email me with your budget I can pass it on to the rest of the WordPress team.
