New Site is Live

Posted in: News, alexking.org

alexking.org v2 is now live and I have to run out to volleyball. I think most stuff should work - post bug reports in the comments. :)

UPDATE: a good deal of wonkiness has been fixed - I’m sure some stuff is still busted.

And to answer those who have asked, yes I’ll be doing a few fairly detailed write-ups on the creation of the site and the new functionality here in the coming days/weeks.

I like the clean look and new organization of the site. I’ll be interested to read the whole process you went though. While going to projects it wouldn’t let me download a couple of the plugins…redirected to a page not found.

Yeah, a couple of new plugins aren’t fully released yet. They will be up soon. I guess I’ll take them off the page for now.

Clicking the comments on the frontpage load to the comments on your post about yourself.

I think the adsense ads look out of place in the sidebar. Matching their background color to the sidebar would help.

If you want them to stand out, some kind of additional style (like a border) to make it clear that they were intended to be different would also work…

    I like it!

Have you thought about using a form field within a div to check for spam comments instead of the captcha method?

Looks good! A little wide for my taste (my browser is nearly the entire 1024 width of my laptop screen, and I’ve got a horizontal scroll bar).

I noticed that the link to your HTML resume template is busted. I’m sure you’ll be fixing lots of things like that over time.

I’m still collecting notes for my own future site redesign. There are a lot of things that I want to improve, I just have to figure out how I want to organize things.

Loving the new site - it looks a lot more modern but has a good simplistic air around it. I’m not a fan of your logo since the two blues and similar!

Are we going to get some ‘making of’ posts - I’m looking forward to hear how you did the front page with WP!

Also - the font changing buttons don’t work for me (Camino 1.1 Alpha on OS X)

Great job on the redesign. I like how it still has roots in your old design (font faces, colors, etc.) but is modern and refreshing. Great job.

And I am loving all your plug-in’s. They are building my whole site. :)

    Keep up the great work!
