Tag Uncomplete 1.0

Posted in: News, WordPress

This is a really simple WordPress plugin that only does one thing: disable the tag auto-complete feature in WordPress 2.5.

The tag auto-complete feature is very nice, and I personally like it quite a bit. However, some of our clients have thousands of tags and were experiencing unacceptable slowdowns with this feature enabled. If you are experiencing problems like this, Tag Uncomplete may help.

The download and more information are available on my WordPress Plugins page.

If you have any trouble with this, please open a thread in the WP Support Forums and send me the link.

That’s a great idea. I do love the autocomplete, because it does show me when my tags have been misspelled in the past.

I wonder if that feature can be turned on or off manually in the next versions of WP?

It’s not that I don’t like this plugin, it’s just that the issue it addresses is a something that could be fixed in the next versions of WP 2.5.x

Well, it is rather the system of designs that we lived in rather than a *feature* of Wordpress that plagued us. For instance, I use MarsEdit to do my Blog Postings and I know many other people use other Desktop Client. All of this and most new programs suffer from this Useful Handicap.

So, I would not really think circumventing the auto-complete in Wordpress Editor solves a nagging *feature* but it just adds up another plugin to your Wordpress Install.

The good news is that I’ve got myself used to breaking up the tags with a quick delete, commas, to make it easier.
