For the last couple of months I’ve had an Obama badge in my sidebar to show my support for his candidacy for president. The time for campaigning is done - it’s now time to focus on working together as a country.
I’m now replacing my Obama badge with this:

I set up a site supporting the idea america09.com - it has a number of badges with code for you to put them on your own site.
Thanks to the Obama campaign for the great logos and art they have made available. Hopefully no one gets upset that I’ve remixed them in this manner. All trademarks and logos are property of their respective owners.

Even as a Brit I’m still applauding you guys. Such great news.
If some Photoshop volunteers could make some more badges I’d be tempted to use one too, something a little more international in tone though?

Even if nobody gets ‘upset’ about the use of their trademarks and copyrighted works, you are leaving yourself vulnerable to justified complaint by including a PayPal donate button on the website.
If the donations exceed the hosting costs (and even, perhaps, where they don’t), you are profiting from someone else’s original work. It may be a good idea to make clear, for example, that any money not used to host the site will be donated to the Obama/Change movement.
That quibble aside, good idea.

I am also really excited that he won! I know that he won’t be able to make all the promises he made because, well, that’ just how it works. But I’m glad that the international community is finally happy with America again.

To be truly unifying shouldn’t the badges have the US flag in the background instead of Obama’s logo? It seems incongruous to have “America” overtop the Obama logo, when America is not Obama.
Consider that for those who were displeased with Bush, the rallying point was the US flag as it represents the totality of America. One may not care much for Bush, but still the flag which represents something greater is held in high regard. Likewise, those who are displeased with Obama will rather rally around the US flag for unity. People still like America if not the current President. That’s where unity comes from.

I think you’re missing the point - for Obama supporters from the campaign to be able to show their support for him and the country. That’s what makes this different from other generic badges.
