  1. PHP and MySQL Versions

Over the last few weeks as the sponsors have been using Tasks Pro™, most of the issues I’ve been dealing with have been due to differences in PHP and MySQL versions. Just a reminder to all you developers out there, don’t underestimate the importance of testing on a variety of platforms and configurations. In particular,…

  2. Weekly Finalist

At Jason‘s recommendation, I submitted one of the photos I took last week to the weekly assignment contest at fredmiranda.com. I’d like to get back into the habit of doing the weekly assignment more often. I’m always impressed by what people capture for these weekly contests – some great photos and techniques. My shot was…

  3. Releasing Software is a Lot of Work

Wow. I have to admit I didn’t realize there was so much I’d have to do after I finished the actual coding of Tasks Pro™ before I could release. Granted, I tend to be a little more thorough on things like this than some people are, but I feel that if you aren’t going to…

  4. More CSS Styles Anyone?

I’ve had a few more CSS Styles for WordPress come in lately, the more the merrier! If you’d like to send one in, I’ll post it on the WordPress CSS Styles page. Also, if anyone wants to play around w/ styling another XHTML template, my HTML Resume Template could use another style or two. 🙂…

  5. New in Tasks Pro™

People have been asking me for a list of the new features that will be in Tasks Pro™, this isn’t complete but it lists a number of the changes. Added user and session handling. Ability to create/edit/delete users and groups. Ability to assign users to groups. Ability to assign tasks to users. Ability to restrict…

  6. Validating

I validated 167 pages of my Tasks Pro™ documentation last night. Is there a web service or something I can pass a list of URLs to and just get the results? Or do I have to keep doing this the manual way? UPDATE: There is a batch validator from the Web Design Group.

  7. Around the web

Lots of goodies this week. Too true. And another one. Steve Jobs on Longhorn. His points make sense to me. Rich has some good thoughts about OPS. I just discovered Bill Maher’s blog. I really enjoyed his Politically incorrect show and I’m interested to see what he’ll have to say in his blog. Here are…

  8. WOW! A-rod to the Yanks

A-rod to the Yankees for Soriano. According to the story, Alex Rodriguez (one of the best defensive shortstops in the game) will move to third base so Derek Jeter (one of the worst defensive shortstops in the game) can remain at short. It isn’t even close when you look at the stats. Hmm, I guess…

  9. Pitchers and Catchers

Pitchers and catchers report for spring training today. Whoohoo! 😀 Two American League teams made moves over the off-season that could make this a very interesting year: In the AL West, the Angels spent a TON of money and signed Vladimir Guererro, Bartolo Colon, Jose Guillen and Kelvim Escobar. Assuming they can keep everyone healthy,…

  10. The Samples at Fox Theater

I finally saw The Samples live in concert tonight. They played a great show at the Fox Theater in Boulder including a bunch of songs from my college days. My only regret was forgetting to bring my camera – doh! I was looking forward to seeing what kind of shots I could get using the…

  11. Black and White

I haven’t had much time to play with my camera since I got to Denver, but I managed to get a few shots this weekend. I miss it, need to find time to get out more often (like most things I’m interested in these days). Most of the shots are of an old school a…

  12. Screencapture to Clipboard on Mac OS X

I need to take a bunch of screenshots for my documentation so I looked for a Mac OS X utility to save the screenshots directly as GIF or JPEG files. Grab and Cmd-Shift-4 are great for saving screenshots as PDF files, but then you have to open and export each shot.I tried FreeSnap, but though…

  13. Drowning in Documentation

The last week now, I’ve spent most of my time writing documentation for Tasks Pro™. So far I’ve created 128 PHP Doc System modules (the static output is ~200k, zipped) in a cross-referenced mess that is about 2/3rds of where I need it to be and doesn’t have any screenshots yet. Ugh… On the flip…

  14. Judging Criteria Explained

I’ve seen several posts that seemed to miss (or misunderstand) the judging criteria I posted here: These rose to the top using a combined score of votes from the people who are putting up the prize money, your downloads, and cross-browser compatibility. The criteria used for judging was a combination of these 3 things: Average…
