  1. Top Posting?

Can someone explain to me why there are people on mailing lists that have an extreme violent hatred of top posting ? Why is this practice so evil that someone feels compelled to take the time to post about it on nearly every mailing list I’m on? I’m honestly asking for an explanation here.

  2. Around the web

Weeds in the Garden Gammons: Young GMs strong-willed. I thought the Dodgers got a steal. I wish I’d found this (The joys of unicode, UTF-8, and form internationalization) before I’d taken some drastic measures to ‘fix’ this problem in my software. (thanks Matt) Corporate Firewalls – I don’t know why they’d block my site either.…

  3. Tempted

On Friday I golfed with an older gentleman who has a miniature australian shepherd puppy. Today we went over to his house to meet ‘Buddy’. Buddy was pretty awesome, he’s a small dog that can play like a big dog and was very sweet tempered. The breeders he came from just had another litter, which…

  4. Adium

How is it that no one grabbed me and forced me to Adium sooner is beyond me. Adium is a wonderfully implemented multi-protocol IM client for Mac OS X. I found it last night, decided to give it a shot, and trashed Fire about 20 minutes later. I’d tried Proteus a few months back, but…

  5. Does Your Software Do X?

One of the things that drove me nuts working for a large software company was the constant stream of: a potential customer needs this feature, we can do that right? These would come in from sales and marketing when they knew full well that the feature they were asking about was at least 6 months…

  6. Found Dog

Last night about 10:30 PM, a dog started barking rather persistently outside our back yard. We went out and saw her running back and forth and jumping against the fence, barking and semi-growling. We went over to the fence and she started to calm down a little. She had a collar and tags, but no…

  7. Tasks Pro™ 1.5 alpha 1

I’ve made an alpha of Tasks Pro™ available for customers that want to try out the new features that are done so far. I’m looking forward to getting feedback and listening to discussion of the new feature on the beta mailing list. Before you ask: No, recurring tasks and task templates are not in yet.…

  8. Smarter Hotlink Prevention

I’ve implemented A List Apart’s Smarter Hotlink Prevention. Let me know if this is better or worse than my old method for you folks using web based RSS aggregators. Here is a smily to test with.

  9. Photos 4.1rc4

I decided to do one final release candidate of Photos 4.1 to make sure I’ve gotten everything fixed up. The PHP notices people were seeing should be fixed and there haven’t been other reports (yet) of more strings that need to be translated. I would recommend people use this version instead of 4.0.1 as it…

  10. WP Mobile 1.6

All users of my WP Mobile plugin should grab this new version. The old version didn’t properly filter out unapproved comments. This is probably why my site has been getting linked to by second-hand comment spammers recently. UPDATE – download fixed @ 2:42pm MST

  11. WP Photos 1.5

I’ve posted an update to my WP Photos plugin. This should hide the SQL errors some people were seeing, but that I could never reproduce. Thanks to MacShack (an old friend from the b2 forums) for finding the problem and sending me a fix. It was indeed a variable conflict. UPDATE – download fixed @…
