Only 15 months after moving to Colorado, I finally registered my car and got my Colorado drivers license today. The process was surprisingly easy, taking about 3-4 hours total – perhaps because I was able to find out what I needed to bring in on the Colorado web site so I had everything ready. I was surprised that they handed me license plates right over the counter. The letters on the plate are ‘LEX’. 🙂
A police officer friend of mine once gave me a useful tip regarding your car registration tabs:
After putting the tabs on your license plate, score them a few times with a knife. This makes it hard for someone to steal your tabs because they will come off in pieces.
Congrats on a painless switch. When we moved to Colorado, it was a pain. We had researched on the web the required documents, but ended up spending 3 to 4 hours JUST IN LINE. The fact that JeffCo doesn’t take credit card for license payments also got in our way, meaning a trip to the local ATM.
Great tip about the license tabs.
People steal registration tabs? Bunch of savages in this town…
hi alex, i had my license plate stolen, so the tabs went with plate. i’m not sure what they are going to do it since i reported it missing. it cost me an additional $17 to get new license plates from dmv. good tip about the tabs, tho.
Hi Alex!
Would you mind sharing your plate photo with my blog at http://pl8s.blogspot.com?
