  1. 1 of 3

The RAM and additional hard drive1 I ordered from Other World Computing showed up today. One delivery down, two to go. I’m planning to do a software RAID 0. [back]

  2. Server Overloaded

This poor server box is getting a bit overloaded. Intermittent bouncing of processes seems to be the quick fix of the day. We’ve purchased more RAM but it hasn’t been installed yet. Hopefully that will happen soon and it will fix the performance issues we’re seeing right now. Thanks for your patience.

  3. Around the web

Miers’ Answer Raises Questions – Los Angeles Times The New York Times > Leading by (Bad) Example “Now let me get this straight,” Judge Mithaqi (The lead Iraqi delegate, and a noted secular Sunni judge) said. “You are lecturing us about keeping religion out of politics, and then your own president and conservative legal scholars…

  4. Set Your Clocks

Residents of states that observe “daylight savings” get an extra hour of sleep tonight. I had to set 2 analog wall clocks, the clock on the stove and microwave, and that was about it – an improvement from last time. My office and bedside clocks are atomic, my computers use a network time server and…

  5. Page Titles

I’m starting to see more sites1 putting the “page title” before the “site title” on their web pages. Doing this generally goes against my hierarchical aesthetic, however I can see 3 good reasons to set up a page title in this manner: Seach Engine Optimization – having the “real” page title earlier in the title…

  6. Very Cool Web Based Whiteboard

A comment today on my post from January 2004 pointed me to this very cool flash whiteboard. I love it when I get great comments like this on old posts. It always seemed silly to me that people would want to disable comments on old posts1 – it always felt like throwing the baby out…

  7. Tasks Pro™ 1.6b4 and Tasks 2.6b1

I’ve released Tasks Pro™ 1.6 beta 4 and Tasks 2.6 beta 1. These releases brings a few minor changes in Tasks Pro™ and adds the new features for the .6 release (create tasks from e-mails, unofficial support for PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server) to Tasks. Changes since Tasks Pro™ 1.6 beta 3: Updated documentation, each…

  8. Thunderbird 1.5 beta 2

If you update to Thunderbird 1.5 beta 2, make sure you disable the inline spell checking extension as this functionality is now built-in. Otherwise Thunderbird will crash repeatedly, causing you to curse it repeatedly.

  9. Eric’s Annual Visit

Eric is in town for his annual “work on Wetpixel” trip to Denver. Last time, we migrated the site to a new CMS and integrated the CMS and the forum; this time, we’re building some new features.

  10. Merging

I’ve spent a few days last week and this weekend merging the Tasks 2.5.2 code with the current Tasks Pro™ 1.6 beta code in preparation to release a beta version of Tasks 2.6. This will have all the new features that Tasks Pro™ 1.6 introduces (create tasks from e-mails, unofficial support for PostgreSQL and MS…

  11. Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota Vikings football practice was delayed nearly two hours yesterday after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field. Head coach, Mike Tice, immediately suspended practice while police and federal agents were called to investigate. After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to the…

  13. World Series

I don’t have strong feelings either way towards the teams in this year’s World Series. I guess I’m leaning a little towards Roger Clemens and the Astros, but if I had to bet I’d probably put my money on the White Sox. Predictions? They count more if you get them in before the game starts.…
