Like lots of folks, I signed up for Friendster and Orkut accounts back in the day. I didn’t really get it then, and I still don’t really get it now – but that’s not the point of this post.
Orkut has become a nearly daily hassle for me as Orkut “members” add their spam links to my “scrapbook” – the guestbook feature of Orkut.
There is no feature to allow me to turn off the scrapbook, at least as far as I can tell. I regret ever signing up for these sites. I’ve got enough spam in my life without bringing it in from 3rd party sites that don’t give me any benefits.
Alex, you can completely remove your profile from Orkut. I don’t remember from where but there is a button somewhere in the settings menu. I dumped mine a year ago, all those brazilians wanted to be my friend and there wasn’t any benefit in membership anymore…
If you log into Orkut head to the settings page. The left sidebar has an option for “delete account.”
Heh. This has been the impetus for me to delete Orkut, which I’ve seriously not messed with in over a year. Granted, I’m just on the ragged edge of their upper core age range, but I’ve found how Facebook does stuff to be a whole hell of a lot cleaner.
You mistyped it, it is crapbook.
I joined it a year or 2 a go when it first came out.. i didnt like the slow feel to it..I actually hate it..and you know what? i really should delete my profile from there…
thanks for reminding me 😉
I do not like the idea of orkut but unfortunately there is a profile in orkut which resembles 99% of my life and personality.I reported a complaint against this to orkut but they say that the profile does not contain my photo so they cannot delete it.I know that its non other than me who is being impersonated .This is a ridiculed situation which I am facing just because orkut belongs to the strongest nation on earth and my country low is helpless. Please suggest me what best can be done if any one can.
