Based on the feedback from my previous post, I think I know what the issue may be between Twitter Tools 2.0 and WordPress 2.9.
I have a new version available that may address the issue that some people were having saving posts with Twitter Tools enabled in WordPress 2.9.
I believe the cause of this issue is as described in this ticket. Basically, a change in WordPress core in 2.9 was incompatible with some plugins that included the same JSON library.
I have not been able to fully test this and would like your help in doing so. If you have experienced these problems, please download this testing version, and let me know your results in the comments. Thanks!
UPDATE: Get version 2.1.x which has the same fix.
This post is part of the project: Twitter Tools. View the project timeline for more context on this post.
I tried the plugin on two sites that the previous version did not work on and they both now work. Thanks!
Thanks for your hardwork trying to get your plugins working 🙂
I don’t use twitter and your plugin, but I liked your attitude.
I’ve been waiting for this. Let me try it out. Thanks 🙂
I will try it
Just tried it and worked without the error. W00t. Thanks, Alex.
Thanks for acting on this. Will test later.

All seems to be working. I will report any hiccups as they arise. Thanks for the rapid response.
I’m in the process of setting up my first ever WP enviroment. Running 2.9.1 (downloaded everything today).
Saw your blog post here and grabbed the patched version and it got it working. The only issue I have now is the bit.ly plugin causes a white screen of death and blocks the twitter push (but the post goes out to WP itself).
I posted this on the WordPress forum as well, but just to be sure you catch it, I uploaded the test version, activated only the Twitter Tools plugin, and was able to successfully write and save a draft WordPress post and post a Tweet. The version number of your plugin did not change with the update, however – you’ll want to correct that before the final release. Thanks for your help on this.
Seems to be working just fine, thanks!

I tried the latest beta. Although everything appears appropriate, the only glitch is that the Bit.ly URL does not get tweeted. Please advise & thanks for a dynamite plugin, Alex.
Alex, twitter tools works perfect with 2.9, as for me – I don’t need this beta for plugin to work.
But beta works too.
You don’t need to worry. 🙂
[…] As usual, I got multiple warnings about new updates on my WordPress system. So I updated all of them. Too bad, because my Twitter tools stopped working. AlexKing, the developer of Twitter tools generated a new beta, which seems to work better. You can download it here. […]
