On my Droid 2 (R2D2) there is a Battery Manager panel in the Settings. I changed the Battery mode to “Maximum battery saver” and let it charge overnight to give it a good test.
Today I unplugged it from the charger about 7:30am and left WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G on all day (along with normal background sync and application1 network activity) and used it normally – maybe even a bit heavily.
The result: I couldn’t notice any performance difference and at 11:45pm I still had 60% battery left.
That’s quite acceptable in my book.
