Such a great presentation from Mike – I sent this to my team immediately after watching it. This is targeted at designers, but applicable to anyone in a services business or who works in a creative capacity.

This sort of entitlement crap really irks me. No one is making you speak at a conference; it’s a choice. Expenses covered or not is just something you need to factor in when agreeing to be a speaker.

I’m curious what Matt will miss most too. I’m curious what I would miss, but not enough to try it.

A really great look at productivity on an iPad/tablet. I use my iPad for consumption almost exclusively; the exception is wireframing.

If I understand correctly, Marco is introducing a single point of failure to system previously had none and touting it as a future.
Did we learn nothing from Google Reader?

During our last round of hiring I kept data on where applicants were coming from, along with some metadata about each candidate. I’ve compiled the results in this post – perhaps useful to others in their hiring efforts.

Solid and thorough exploration by Justin. Getting support right is really hard. Surprisingly so if you’ve never been on the offering side of it before.

- Someone had the idea for this and thought it was a good enough idea to propose to others.
- Others agreed that it was a good idea.
- As the choir practiced, they still thought this was a good idea.
- During rehearsals, other people saw this performance and thought it was a good idea.
- This was performed before a world wide audience.
I find each of these steps individually remarkable, and stupefying in aggregate.

Still a total bargain for as much as my family uses Amazon’s delivery and video service.

Whoa. (thanks Justin)

Building a great team is hard. Brutally hard.

I’ve put up a post on the Crowd Favorite blog about how I use WordPress and the FavePersonal theme (free!) to own my online identity, while still participating with my friends on Facebook and Twitter.
I love how I have (on my own site) a history of the social reactions to posts like this. Here’s a more casual example; where the social reactions really add to the overall story.
I think owning your online identity is hugely important – don’t outsource it to some 3rd-party service. But there’s no reason not to take advantage of the benefits of those services. I want to have my cake and eat it to – and I believe I’m doing just that.
This post is part of the project: Personal Theme. View the project timeline for more context on this post.

I’m pretty proud of the automation tools we’ve created at Crowd Favorite, particularly for creating local project set-ups and for deploying to production sites. But it definitely is a constant investment.

I’m in favor of all proposals that make metadata more accessible programatically.

It saddens me that we need posts like this in 2014.
