FeedLounge Alpha 4

Posted in: FeedLounge

FeedLounge has been bumped to alpha 4. The main excitement in this release for me is the addition of support for 401 authenticated feeds. Now I can subscribe to the FeedLounge task RSS feeds created by Tasks Pro™. :)

This also creates additional server load as the data from 401 authentication and private feeds cannot be shared among users. Because of this, it’s likely these features will fall in the “paid” feature set. It’s only fair I guess; after all, the data from those feeds isn’t free.

The History feature is pretty cool too, it’s similar to a browser’s history – something I’ve often wished for1 from my feed reader.

  1. In conjunction with a back button, which we’ve had since alpha 1. [back]

I agree, Alex, that those should be paid features.

In NetNewsWire you can create a smart group for “clicked” items. It allows you to see a history of all the items you followed-through.

I did 95% of my reading in NNW (only opened 5% of items in an external browser), so this didn’t help me much.
